Girl Blowing Red Hearts To Her Lover For Valentines

Let Your Soul Soar!

You do so much that is important for your body like eat well, exercise right, and get a good night’s sleep.  And, we care for our mind by doing daily “brain exercises” with memory lists like:

  1. remember to pick up the dry-cleaning,
  2. get the dog from the groomer
  3. ..wasn’t there something else? Oh yeah…the KIDS!

Life is hard work! If I knew I had to give up play for work I would never have become an adult.

Play is so important for social growth that we make sure our children and pets have scheduled play-time. We make them play-dates.

When was the last time you scheduled yourself a Play-date?

You may be starved for joy.  Yes, starved! As women, and some men, we are the natural care-givers in our families. Many of us were trained that way; others were naturally born with the gift of giving. Are you the one who cares for your family?

You spend time and money for everyone else …first.  So…what have you done lately for YOURELF? Better yet, what have you done for your SOUL? When was the last time you felt it soar through the air and sing like a bird? It may have been trying to speak to you in Daydreams. Have you been too busy to listen or even notice?

It is time to give your body a Play-date and your SOUL a treat with Retreat for the Soul.

According to a study published in PsychCentral.com Play is just as important for adults as it is for children. “Defining play is difficult because it’s a moving target,” Scott G. Eberle, Ph.D, vice president for play studies at The Strong and editor of the American Journal of Play, said. “[It’s] a process, not a thing.” He said that it begins in anticipation and hopefully ends in poise. “In between you find surprise, pleasure, understanding — as skill and empathy — and strength of mind, body, and spirit.”

Here what some other experts and studies have said about the importance of adult play time.

  • “The only kind [of play] we honor is competitive play,” according to Bowen F. White, MD, a medical doctor and author of Why Normal Isn’t Healthy.
  • “We don’t lose the need for novelty and pleasure as we grow up.” Scott G. Eberle, Ph.D. vice president for play studies at The Strong and editor of the American Journal of Play.

Psychiatrist Dr. Stuart Brown, founder of the National Institute for Play, calls play a “state of being.” Brown compares play to oxygen. He writes, “…it’s all around us, yet goes mostly unnoticed or unappreciated until it is missing.” This might seem surprising until you consider everything that constitutes play. Play is art, books, movies, music, comedy, flirting and daydreaming, writes Dr. Brown,

Competitive play in children prepares them for competition in the adult world and work place. But, what is an adult to do who has been in a competitive environment all day and needs to play for the sake of playing, as our experts have pointed out?

We have a Retreat for your soul. Partake of a day full of dreams, socializing and adult play.
