“I gave them my all and they gave me back my life.” Mark Barone, artist
“As you sow, so shall you reap…” is from the King James Version of the Bible, Epistle to the Galatians, 6.7, and a quote with a strong meaning for karma. It means consequences of actions are in proportion to intentions. The seeds you have sown may be your children; your future. Do you want a future filled with cruelty or compassion? r
You may have heard the saying, “An Act of God”, but what about An Act of Dog? And, what do art and compassion have to do with either phrase? More than you may imagine, especially if you love man’s best friend. This interview illustrates how painting with a purpose can save a dog’s life, improve our world, and create a better future for our children one gentle stroke at a time.
According to studies cited in Stanford Social Innovation Review and Preziartists have a powerful medium for reporting on the consciousness of our civilization. By combining the two parallel pathways of art and compassion a powerful engine for social change can be created.
Mark Barone and Marina Dervan create art-work that saves lives every day, because animal lives matter, too.
Marina Dervan is a twenty year veteran of coaching corporate executives from Wall Street to Continental Europe. But her mot recent endeavor is one generated from the heart. She is the co-founder of the charity,An Act of Dog. Charity founder/ artist Mark Barone and Marina created the working, interactive Museum of Compassion where children can come to expression their passion and follow their path of emotional self-discovery concerning all acts of love and atrocities in society, but especially those for and against animals.
“All children are born artists,” Picasso said. Marina and Mark agree.
As a narrative painter for thirty-five years, Mark never had any interest in painting “pretty art” for the wall. His work always has a purpose and a spiritual foundation with a focus on the struggles of the human condition. Now his art and charity is impacting change for our animal friends.Mark’s personal story of redemption includes two cherished dogs, Santina and Rudy. It is the power of dog-love that powers Mark’s paint brushes and Marina’s media engagements.
It all started so innocently.
Marina had always considered herself to be a cat-lady until she met Santina, the brown eyed dog who stole her heart. When twenty-two-year-old Santina died Mark and Marina were devastated. They grieved, as many parents do after losing a fur-child.
When Marina decided to adopt another dog her heart and dreams were shattered again by a waking nightmare.
While searching online she discovered the appalling graphic evidence pointing to the chilling numbers of animals being dumped and destroyed every day. Animals that had once been a part of someone’s family were killed in mind-boggling numbers.
Marina and Mark could have turned away and few would have faulted them for it. After all, what could two people possibly do to make any difference in the lives of so many deserted creatures destined for death?
Within two days of this gruesome discovery, Mark decides to paint the approximate number of dogs killed each day in shelters to illustrate the stark reality of our inhumane animal parenting and sheltering. It was a case of art to the rescue.
Thus began the 5,500 portraits of shelter dogs to create social awareness.
Mark’s goal is to use his art to bring to consciousness a need for compassion and social change to create a solution to this murder and thereby empower pets. He understands that creativity cultivates original ideas that have value and purpose.
Children’s pets and artwork go together like peanut butter and jelly. Mark explains, “kids are the unwrapped gifts to our future, and we believe it is critically important to put meaningful art back into schools to allow them the process of self-discovery and to ignite a desire to become informed about the atrocities in society.”
It is time to take a stand and make a change. Shelters used as stark holding tanks for death need to become compassionate foster care homes for pets. Art-work created by children that focuses on all God’s creatures can become the messenger for social change.
It is Mark and Marina’s goal to help students use creativity to bring life-solutions into the light.
“Creativity is as important as literacy,” Mark says.It is also a way to illustrate the power of art in education because a picture is worth a thousand words.
Mark and Marina began to design and sell products around the world to raise the necessary funds to support the life-saving animal welfare organizations across the nations.
Soon after, An Act of Dog was born. The project has garnered the attention of worldwide media including Oprah, rising country star John Scargall, and they have partnered with filmmaker Sagacity Production which has almost completed the filming of a documentary about this timely and powerful project.
Mark and Marina’s actions are in proportion with their intention to make the world a better place. An Act of Dog is a stroke of genius by Mark and Marina who are making a big difference in the world, one painting at a time. What do you believe you can do?

Quote: “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” — Helen Keller
Affirmation: “I will temporarily offer my shoulder but not my back.”
Finally! The hectic holidays are over. After indulging in some of the best parties of the year, why are you feeling so low and what can you do to get rid of the blues?
Don’t despair. You are not alone. Mild post–holiday depression and even cold Seasonal Affective Depression known as SAD can follow you into June and through the heat of summer as Post Vacation Depression. But, life is often more about perception than fact. And if you choose to view it as such, depression can become an asset in your life in the form of life-saving warning signs and inner spiritual guidance. Turn the-blues into motivation for change rather than a hindrance for life.
You’ve been focused on meeting the holiday needs of family and friends. It may be time to tune-into yourself. Speaking as a three-time breast cancer survivor, my severe bouts of depression taught me to be aware of my choices; take pills to alleviate and ignore it, or face it and figure out what my body, psyche and inner-guidance were telling me about my life. Occasionally, the choice was as simple and complicated as life and death.
According to research and studies done at the Mayo Clinic, the end of a holiday is often the beginning of depression. Just as we can physically crash after extensive sugar, we can feel down after a long party. The pendulum of life had swung far over into the extreme energy mode of multiple merry-making events like Halloween, followed by Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and finally Easter. The turkey has been carved, the gifts put away and all the eggs found. Now, as the pendulum swings back into normal it can feel like a let-down rather than a relief.
This particular type of depression is also referred to as Seasonal Affective Disorder, aka SAD. According to Medicine Net the symptoms are similar to Post Vacation Depression. It is normal to have a few of the symptoms listed below. The challenge is when you suffer from many of them at the same time. It may be a sign that you are SAD.
Check the 9 symptoms below to see how SAD you may be. Do you have:
- unexplained fatigue
- crying spells
- mood swings
- irritability
- trouble concentrating
- unexplained body aches
- no sex drive
- insomnia,
- overeating and weight gain especially from consuming carbohydrates
Now you know the symptoms.
Causes of post-holiday depression may be:
- Unmet expectations
- Unrealistic New Year resolutions
- A return to loneliness after the departure of friends and family
- Guilt about holiday overindulgence
- Seasonal depression pattern
Depression is often a symptom, not an illness. Alleviating a symptom does not cure the disorder and this one is not something to ignore.
Research has consistently shown a strong link between suicide and depression. According to a Center for Disease Control study concerning suicide facts and Suicide Awareness Vices of Education, suicide is the second leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds. An estimated quarter million people each year become suicide survivors.
Our emotional discomfort can be so great we would rather considered death by our own hand as a means of escape rather than staying and facing our “ghosts.”
However, deciding to see what lessons can be learned from depression is often the first step toward a cure.
It is like pulling the knife from your heart and using it to cut through life’s Bull-sh#t.
During my treatment, depression was a frequent companion. Looking back on those trying times now allows me to answer difficult questions previously avoided such as,
- “Why was I really depressed?”
- “How can depression serve me and what does that teach me?”
Our mind is incredibly powerful and will create or manifest situations to serve and save us.
My conclusion is depression and illness can be a way of forcing us to slow down and “look within” at memories (old baggage), events (past and present cycles), people (relationships), and life-styles (habits) are not to our benefit. Without depression, it may be easier to continue accepting whatever life throws our way—settling for less than what is needed and/or deserved.
Watch for part 2 of this article for solutions and tips on how to overcome post-holiday depression.

Have you ever had a loved one or a pet visit you in your dreams either to give you a warning or to let you know that life after death is a wonderful transition? How do you know the dream is not just wishful thinking? The answer is the very personal validation you get in your waking world.
In this video blog known as a VLOG guest Stephanie Bouchard shares two very different yet equally amazing Dreams-of-Love with us on the Kat Kanavos Show. We also discuss the importance of pets and healing, including Pet Rocks. Yes, pet rocks! They had their place in people’s hearts and college dorm rooms. It was the perfect answer to institutions that did not even allow goldfish. Remember the Pet Rock Cemeteries? Yeah, people love to love.
The first dream is a precognitive dream about her grandfather’s death that saves her life. The second is a message of love from her beloved cat that “came back” to play.
The night before her grandfather’s wake Stephanie had a dream that warned she would hit black-ice during the drive home from the wake. In the dream, she was reassured that everything would be alright because her grandfather would take care of her. Sure enough, driving home the next night after her grandfather’s wake she hit the black ice on a frozen Maine road and her car spun out of control and headed toward the lane of oncoming traffic.
What Stephanie did next both calmed and stunned her. Rather than fighting the wheel of the car she remembered the dream, let go of the wheel, covered her eyes with her hands and trusted in the belief that she would be fine. Her waking incident played out exactly as it had in the dream the night before and Stephanie survived to tell us the details in this video interview.
How often have we wondered where our pets have gone after they died? Are pets allowed in heaven? Do they just-Poof-disappear like a puff of smoke? Twelve hours after Stephanie had to euthanize her beloved cat of nineteen years, she appeared to Stephanie in a dream and they played together, just like they did when she was alive and well. In the dream, the cat was running around, joyous, and Stephanie chased her laughing. Stephanie felt her cat was telling her in the dream that she was okay. The pain was gone.
Our dreams can help us feel better about difficult decisions we must make in life, like putting a pet to sleep. But one thing is certain; your dreams are sacred doorways that allow you to connect with the-other-side and doorways through which our loved ones can also return to tell us they love us.

Because You Asked! The Three Wives of Donald the Trump.
What do the Tarot Cards tell us about the three wives of Donald Trump and possibly by association, about his life as well? You asked us on YouTube so we are answering in this 7 minute VIDEO Rachel Love Show.

The shot heard around the world, and still reverberating is the one that started the 2016 Presidential Race to the White House.
What began as seventeen Presidential hopefuls performing under the Republican Circus Tent and six majorDemocrats tap-dancing around world issues on the Democratic Stage has now boiled down to the main show in lights under the Big Tent; The Donald vs Hillary Clinton.
But, what about the wives behind the stage connected to the main performance?
You know-the performer we follow even when we don’t want to because he is so bleeping entertaining. What will come out of his mouth today? Who will he insult? People either hate to love him or love to hate him. There does not seem to be any middle ground to Donald Trump.
And, what about the women The Donald has loved and left? What do the Tarot Cards tell us about them, and by association, The Donald?
We were asked a this question on YouTube after a five-part series done on The Kat and Sheila Show last season which focused on the Tarot Cards of leading Presidential candidates and their husbands and wives.
Today, we are reading the Tarot Cards of the three wives of The Donald because you asked.
Although the cards are all different, it is amazing how many similarities the wives share that goes beyond physical appearance. If you have Playing or Tarot Cards get them out and read along with us. We read Tarot Cards every Monday night at 4pm PT on The Kat and Sheila Show.
Wife number one is Ivana born February 20, the 5 of Diamonds in Playing Cards which is the 5 of Pentacles in the Tarot Cards.
Donald Trump’s first wife is Ivana, born April 26th which makes her the 5 of Diamonds in playing cards which is the 5 of Pentacles in the Tarot Deck. What makes Ivana really interesting is she is a REVERSE 5 Of Pentacles which I explain in detail during the video. In my 30+ years of reading Tarot Cards I have only seen a few reverse-cards.
Pentacles are all about health and wealth on the earth plane.
Like most human beings Pentacles are also of the earth and not in the earth. However, Pentacles are more in it than the rest of us. They are practical, down-to-earth and extremely analytical. They have a tendency to assess the world around them on the level of the five senses; does it look and smell good, is the sound of it pleasing, and does it leave a pleasant taste in the mouth, and how does it feel?
Being a 5 makes Ivana intelligent, restless and a freedom lover.
Although Ivana is a multi-tasker she can become easily bored. Like the middle child, 5 is the middle number with all its earthly challenges.
Wife number two is Marla Maples born October 27th which makes her the 8 of Hearts in Playing Cards and the 8 of Cups in Tarot Cards.
People who are cups are ruled by their heart. Cups are all about love and happiness. The 8 of Cups focuses on the journey within to find the answers to life. It is the card about the turning-point in life. The person on the card has turned their back on love and life in search of self. They have cross-over the river of spirituality to begin their journey while using a wand as a walking stick beneath the guiding light and watchful eye of the male aspects of life known as the sun and the female aspects known as the moon. The number 8 is the infinity standing at attention.
Eights are goal oriented and very sentimental.
Wife number three is Melania, born April 26th which makes her the 8 of Clubs in Playing cards and the 8 of Wands in the Tarot Deck.
Donald Trump married two determined goal-oriented 8s in a row. It begs the question, “Is he attracted to beautiful women or determined woman who happen to be beautiful?”
Wands are all about energy and growth and possess a creative passion for life.
Melania’s tarot Card is all about moving toward her target in life. What makes her card so interesting is all the wands are flying upward in the air toward their target and they will not stop until they have reached it. The 8 of Wands is the “Go Ahead” card and Melania certainly will not stop with her successful life.

We’ve all heard about “that special mindset for success” often coined as the Millionaire Mindset, but does it really exist and can anyone develop it or must you be super-smart along with being super-rich?
These are questions often asked but seldom answered. This VIDEO will go beyond answering them to give you keys and show you how and why they work. They can work for you. The first step toward unlocking that door to success is to believe it can be opened.
If it can be opened, you can open it, too.
We know the door to success can be opened because you have seen the results in other people who have been success in finance, in love, and in life. So what makes them so different from you? Do they put their pants on differently, or do they think about putting their pants on differently?
Yes, that is a trick question.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6coAaxrwwJI
Do the mega-wealthy or super successful have a different mind-set from most of the rest of society? Yes they do. And after spending a month studying the ultra-rich while vacationing on a 150-foot yacht that cruised up and down the coast of Italy and France from Sardinia to St. Tropez I realized anyone can embrace that Millionaire Mindset and make it work for them.
In this video from The Kat Kanavos Show that airs every Monday evening at 5pm Pacific Time from this website https://www.facebook.com/KatKanavosShow/?fref=ts (8 Eastern Standard Time),I share invaluable tips you can use to begin or further your journey toward success in wealth, health, and love.
During my trip through Europe I realized their mindset for success in the world of big finance mirrored mine for success in the personal world of health; beating cancer three times.
First, what is your definition of success?
Boil your answer down to one sentence that you can write on a piece of paper.
Next, watch the video on how to get it.
It is easier than you can imagine but without changing thought patterns nearly impossible to implement.
Last but not least, put these tips into daily use until they become habits.
Watch how quickly your confidence and success shifts your Mindset into a growth spirt of strength. Confidence and success feed your Mindset. They are to your thought patterns what rain and sunshine are to your garden.
This VIDEO talks about 3 Keys for Success.
- Self-Advocate. Never be afraid to self-advocate for your life, beliefs or wants.
- Challenge the status quo. If it were never challenged, the word would still be considered flat.
- Be heard! Stand in your power and speak your truth. This key goes hand-in-hand with key number 1 and 2.
The rich, super rich, and mega-successful use these keys every day. They make their success. You, can too. Try it. Start now by watching the video and practice what you learn. Begin with how you get dressed in the morning. Dress with confidence. As you pull on your pants KNOW you can do one successful thing today by advocating, challenging, and being heard.
Don’t take “No!” for an answer and don’t be dismissed.
If you are in rags, wear them like robes with your head held high, and see how quickly someone ask, “Did you cut your hair?” That is a key to success.
