Coffee Cancer Life Research: A Dream Come True (Part 1 of 3)

Coffee Cancer Life Research: A Dream Come True (Part 1 of 3)

Like the New England weather at the Harvard Research facility, if you don’t like the current scientific findings on a new health topic, wait five minutes, and it may change. Coffee lovers and cancer patients worldwide hope this latest coffee and cancer research remains the same.

Coffee lovers wake up! Smell the new brew research that may extend your life. It concludes that your cup or two of morning brew may be good for you, and increase your lifespan. Great plan. Previous studies stated coffee might shorten your life by leading to life-threatening diseases like cancer. However, recent research has changed that thought pattern.

Now, a cup a day may chase cancer away. A cup-a-Joe may increase blood flow.

The confirmation that my beloved coffee may be healthy has left me so happy it has awakened my inner poet, like you didn’t know it. But, I promise not to rhyme anymore.

This new research is music to many coffee lovers’ and cancer patients ears while it warms our soul which may also lead to a happier life. Science has already proven a happier life is a healthier life. As the research below shows, coffee may even reduce suicide and help patients suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.  Coffee may be the miracle answer.

Unfortunately, it also appears that scientific research contradicts itself from one discovery to the next.

With over 400 billion cups of coffee thought to be consumed every year, coffee is one of the world’s most popular drinks.

What are the newly discovered health benefits and risks of drinking coffee?

Let’s begin with the risks. Coffee is not for everyone. People with caffeine allergies, glaucoma, epilepsy, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may want to stay away from caffeinated coffee. Harvard Research found that drinking eight or more cups a day has been associated with increased suicide risk.

Now, the good news.  Two new studies, one in the U.S. and one in Europe, have found that drinking more coffee each day could lead to a longer life. The benefits may range from helping to prevent diabetes, protect heart rhythm, lower risks of high-grade prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, liver disease, naturally treat Parkinson ’s disease, and reduce mental health issues like depression and suicide.

For those infected with hepatitis C, drinking coffee may reduce DNA damage, increase the clearance of virus-infected cells, and slow the scarring process, which may help explain coffee’s apparent role in reducing liver disease progression risk.

Don’t miss part 2 of this three part blog to learn about the latest uplifting research on  coffee and the  effect it has on reducing the chances of getting Prostate Cancer.

Email Blasts Are Dead: Research and Statistics

Email Blasts Are Dead: Research and Statistics

Are you still collecting emails? Stop! You are wasting your time. Email lists and group blasts are going the way of the carrier pigeon. A hundred years ago a once-mighty species that carried messages to many different sites became extinct. Email blasts may be the next messenger to become a victim of abuse.
This article this article explores:

  1. How terrestrial and cyber events are suffering due to the death of promotional emails
  2. Three researched reasons why it’s a waste of time to collect email addresses
  3. How and why emails that once meant promotion no longer matter
  4. Tried-and-true solutions to help solve the resulting email challenges

What do tele-summits, terrestrial or Internet-based events, and emails have in common? Nothing anymore. Rumors circulated on the internet state that tele-summits and other internet-based means of promotion no longer works. Why? The experts think it is due to a lack of interest in events. There may be another reason.

Research shows the problem is not the message. It is the messenger.

In fact, Internet-based events, if promoted correctly, can be more successful than terrestrial events for five reasons:

  1. Attendees have the ability to enjoy the events from the privacy and comfort of their homes
  2. Attendees don’t have to spend money on travel, hotel rooms, and meals
  3. Events can be viewed and/or listened to live or replayed later as a podcast at the convenience of the attendee
  4. Promoters do not need to secure expensive venues like hotel banquet rooms and risk losing money on less than full events
  5. Experts/presenters do not need to travel to a land-based venue

Reason number three is especially important for attendees with jobs and/or family responsibilities.

So, how and why are emails the problem?

Unfortunately, the decline of business contact through an email blast to connect with potential clients is having an enormous impact on many internet and non-internet-based business-building programs, and start-up businesses.

If you aspire to be a published author your book is your business.

For instance, when attending writing conferences to improve my second book Dreams That Can Save Your Life, it was standard for keynote literary agents to inform audiences that an email list of 10,000 was necessary for representation, because, “publishers do not sign authors unable to self-promote using email reach.” That was a couple of years ago and times have really changed.

Once Upon a Time…Emails meant promotion.

Large email lists were the lifeblood for physical and virtual events, such as:

  • Tele-summits – Online multi-speaker events that assemble a series of experts to discuss a specific theme and often used for email list building.
  • Conferences – An important or notable planned occasion, social gathering, or activity.
  • Product launches – A site-based or virtual launch party around the release of a new product.
  • Networking events – For making new contacts, leading to new clients, partners, and vendors.
  • Seminars/educational events – For professionals or the public with single or multiple speakers.
  • Trade shows – A way to position brands as an industry leader and to generate new leads.

Remember when?

  • People bought email lists
  • Phone Apps were developed to collect emails at events to grow contact lists
  • FREE gifts were an enticement for clients to double-opt into email lists
  • Clipboards were passed around at events or presentations for email collection

That was then, and this is now.

Today email marketing is considered the epitome of bad marketing. Email addresses do not really matter anymore because emails are no longer being read, or answered, so potential clients are not being reached.

Email spamming has resulted in email deletion and blocking.

Consequently, this has resulted in the decline of virtual and in-person attendance at terrestrial events. If you are an entrepreneur attempting to connect with a high-level clientele by using emails, especially blasts,  you are wasting your time. Most of these clients don’t read their emails, and hardworking middle-class clients don’t have time to answer countless daily emails.

Time is money. It is a precious commodity in our fast-paced world.

Once upon a time…I read my emails… until I was overwhelmed with more than 350 a day, many of which I had not signed up for (my address had been purchased somewhere or otherwise shared without my consent). When attempting to respond to some of those emails my email went to Info@, never reaching the person who had sent it. They had no problem spamming me but did not want to be contacted, except through a link that sold me something. Out of necessity I began to block and unsubscribe to newsletters, blogs and emails, which was annoying because it took time.

Today, my virtual assistant handles my emails.

And, many of my friends and clients, who do not have personal assistants to delete their emails, have special email filters that block unsolicited contact. This is part of the death of email and the end of email blasts. Therefore, events and companies which relied heavily on email contact are also dying.

How did this happen? Too much of a good thing became a bad thing.

Abuse killed emails. Email is going the way of phone solicitations and the Do Not Call list. So what is an entrepreneur, author or start-up business to do?

My next blog will address:

  • Professional marketing studies which shed light on the decline of the email
  • Your Solutions for the future.

President Donald Trump and Chinese New Year 2018: Who Let the Dogs Out!

President Donald Trump and Chinese New Year 2018: Who Let the Dogs Out!

President Donald Trump and Chinese New Year 2018: Who Let the Dogs Out!

“The signs of the zodiac are karmic patterns; the planets are the looms; the will is the weaver.” ~Edgar Cayce

How has the world changed from one animal to another in the past three years? And, if 2018 is going to Dogs like President Donald Trump, is that a good or a bad thing? Yup! “The Donald” is a real “Fire Dog.”

The annual Chinese New Year holiday, also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festivalis represented by a zodiac animal on the lunar-solar Chinese calendar. As China ushers out 2017 as the Year of the Rooster, citizens are readying to welcome 2018 as the ACTION Year of the Dog. However, you may be surprised to know it is not just any Dog.

With the heralding in of the Brown Earth Dog on Friday, February 16, the festivities will be in full swing until the Spring Lantern Festival on March 2nd.

So, it is official. The year 2018 is going to the Dogs.

However, before we take a closer look at our new puppy, or run headfirst like a pack of hungry mutts into the 2018 celebration let us glance back one more time at our last two animal years of yore; the righteous but bombastic Red Rooster who symbolized a new day dawning, and that cheeky little Red Fiery Monkey who was so much a part of the birth of America.

Each Chinese New Year is represented by a zodiac animal on the lunar-solar Chinese calendar and each animal also consists of one of the five earth elements. Before China ushered out the Red Rooster born Sunday January 15, 2017, it returned the Red Fire Monkey, born February 4, 2016, to its symbolic Earth Branches in the Treetops of Time.

How is a Monkey important to America?

According to the Cosmic Convergence Research Group America the Beautiful was born in the Year of the Red Fire Monkey, which began this century on February 8, 2016. The Chinese Year of the Red Fire Monkey occurs every 60 years and only once every 240 years when Pluto is transiting Capricorn, as it was during the birth of the American Republic in the year 1776.

Since the Rooster will be freed February 15th let’s take a closer look at his feathered traits.

China Highlightsclaims there are five types of Roosters with very different characteristics:

Wood- born 1945 and 2005 is energetic, overconfident, tender, and unstable

Earth- born1909 and 1969 is lovely, generous, trustworthy, and popular with friends

Gold- born1921and 1981 is determined, brave, perseverant, and hardworking

Water- born1933 and 1993 is smart, quick-witted, tenderhearted, and compassionate

Fire- born 1957 and 2017 is trustworthy, responsible, with a strong sense of timekeeping

Here are some of the world’s most famous Roosters. Decide if you think the personality fits.

  • Bob Marley (born 6 February 1945), a Wood Rooster
  • Jennifer Lopez (born July 24, 1969), an Earth Rooster
  • Britney Spears (born December 2, 1981), a Gold Rooster
  • Yoko Ono (born February 18, 1933), a Water Rooster
  • Martin Luther King III, (born October 23, 1957), a Red Rooster

According to China Highlights there are also 5 different types of Dogs with very different personalities. 2018 is the year of the seriously responsible and communicative Brown Earth Dog.

Wood- born 1934 and 1994 is sincere, reliable, and patient

Earth- born1958 and 2018 is communicative, serious, and responsible

Gold- born1910and 1970 is conservative, desirable, and helpful

Water- born1922 and 1982 is brave, self-centered, and financially well versed

Fire- born 1946 and 2006 is intelligent, hardworking, and sincere

Here are some of the world’s most famous Dogs. You decide if the personality fits, and don’t skip to the end where the best is saved for last.

  • Winston Churchill (born November 30, 1874) a Wood Dog
  • Mother Teresa (born August 26, 1910) a Gold Dog
  • Bill Clinton (born August 19, 1946) a Fire Dog
  • Madonna (born August 16, 1958) an Earth Dog
  • Judy Garland (born June 10, 1922) a Water Dog

If you, someone you love or are thinking of dating,or doing business with is a Dog, here is a glance into their lives in 2018. Knowing what the stars hold for them may give some insight as to what may be in store for you as well.

11th Chinese Zodiac Sign-Dog (Western Zodiac Aquarius) born in these years: 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018. As a Dog in a Dog year your high energy is naturally aligned with the earth. This is the year for you to be yourself in every way. However, be careful in whatever you wish for because you will probably get it. You will not need to complain about the Stars this year, for you will have good luck in most areas of your life. Of course, problems may still occur but your natural enthusiasm for living will help you work through them. Be patient and tenacious at work. This year you may develop threecrucialqualities from life’s challenges that will strengthen your character; the ability to adapt, the ability to make sensible decisions from conflicting information, and the art of negotiating.

Finance: You are one lucky Dog this year. You might have survived the recent turbulent financial crisis and hope the worst is over. Well, the good times about to surface. Of course the situation will depend much on how others in your financial circle perform. Hence, you should not count your chickens before the eggs are hatched, or put them all in the same basket. Diversity is your best financial friend. Be wise with your spending for the first half of the year and try to resist the temptation of buying expensive luxury items for the purpose of impressing others. This is a time to understand your financial limits and live within your means.

Love: As a Dog your romantic life will undergo no significant changes because of your unwavering loyalty to those you love. If you are married or live as a couple, happiness will be there. The Stars promise you tenderness and sensuality in your life as a couple and also ensure stability and fidelity. If you are currently alone, expect a period favorable to attract amorous encounters. Seriously, who can resist a Dog? Perhaps this time you will meet someone who will be as faithful as you, will make your heart thump, tail wag, and heat up love in the most delightful way. Keep your eyes open. If your heart gets carried away by the trust and energy of the Dog, be careful not to embark thoughtlessly on a love story that could end up breaking your heart, again.

Dreams: In the dream realm your sign of the Dog is a faithful friend who loves unconditionally but is extremely protective. Like the little dog on the Fool’s Tarot Card your dreams will guide you to wherever you wish to go. You will have dreams about being loyal and faithful to self. Your dreams will guide you through respecting boundaries, and the power of “No!”which is a difficult concept for an animal whose primary purpose in life is to please and love unconditionally. Keep a dream journal so you can track the guided information shared with you in your dreams.

And, last but not least, another Fire Dog like President Bill Clinton is current President Donald Trump.

According to Ivana Trump’s memoir and research,President Donald Trump is the only American president to take office who does not have dogs. However, when they first married he did live with her dog.

President Donald Trump, born June 14, 1946, is the 4th American President born under the Dog Year but is the first Dog president to hold presidency during the Year of the Dog. Will A Fire Dog without a dog in the White House during the Earth Dog Year be unlucky? Is 2018 going to be a beneficial Brown Earth Dog year for the Fire Dog President, or a bitter Dog Day Afternoon that Dogs him for the rest of his life?  Only the Stars know, and we must wait for Time to tell.

Is having a Dog in the White House going to dash our dreams to pieces on the Rock of Ages? Let’s take a look at dreams, dogs, and the zodiac.

Since the Shang Dynasty about 4,000 years ago, dreams have been an essential part of Chinese life and death. According to Epoch Timesthe ancient Chinese placed tremendous value on dreams as a means of exploring the world of spirits as also seen in modern times with Epoch Times article on prophetic dreams concerning health and healing.

Masters in the Daoist School of Spiritual Cultivation teach how the dream is commonly seen in Chinese folklore and legends as an allegory for the human condition in the “real world.”Animals in dreams can be seen as spirit guides or extremely helpful in gaining insight into ourselves-into our psyche.According to research in the book Dreams That Can Save Your Life: Early Warning Signs of Cancer and Other Diseases, like the Chinese, the ancient Egyptians and Greeks also took dreams not to be mere figments of the subconscious, but asentire worlds beyond our own. In ancient China the Shang court and aristocracy employed officials who specialized in the field of dreams and acted as dream interpreters, as it was believed that dreams reflect good or bad fortune in the zodiac and all aspects of life, but especially in health, love, and finances.

Numerous dream dictionaries describe a dog dream as a reflection of our basic instincts toward friendship, loyalty, and protection. An aggressive dog in a dream may have many different meaning depending on the context of the dream. It might mean that the dreamer has someone in their life who is untrustworthy. And since our dreams are often a reflection of ourselves, it could mean you are protecting yourself from what you perceive to be a danger. A snarling dog in your dream also begs the question, “Do you often attack yourself in some basic animal way?” However, if a dream dog is happy, playful and wagging its tail, it may be a sign of unconditional love and loyalty.

For 2018 let’s stay positive and dream that all of our Dogs, especially the ones in the White House, are happy, healthy and don’t bite us.

Dream: My Dead Uncle Returns

Dream: My Dead Uncle Returns

“What if I dream of my dead uncle telling me to come to him in my dream? What does it mean?”

As a member of Quora’s Dreams and Dreaming group, this dream question was emailed to me by another Quora member. It seems like such a simple question, but it is quite complicated and has multiple answers. The tricky part is deciding which one is right for you because our dreams are filled with a dream language that only we can understand.

Here is my answer based on the research for my dream books.

Dreams of the deceased are one of the most exciting and confusing aspects of dreams and dreaming. In the book Dreams That Can Save Your Life, distributed by Simon & Schuster, many of the 30 life-saving dream stores contained visitations from deceased loved ones and family members during times of crisis.
One dreamer in Part VI, Chapter 42 of the book shares two dream stories about deceased loved ones appearing in her dreams during a time of extreme stress. She had Cystic Fibrosis and was undergoing a triple organ transplant.

One dream is about a previous dead lover who appeared to her in her dream.

On September 11, 2001, (9/11) I received a letter officially listing me for a
double lung and liver transplant. This day symbolized a new beginning for me.
From that day on, my struggling shared space with waiting for the phone call
saying my clinic received organs for me. On August 18, 2001, I got a welcomed
visitor in a dream.

Dream: Mario Is With Me.
Mario, the dead friend I hadn’t thought of for so many months, or get a chance
to say a proper goodbye to, stopped by in my dream. We were sitting in a
house in the living room, just talking as we always did, while there was a lot of
activity around us. It appeared as though someone was moving in or out, but
I wasn’t sure. And while we talked, I couldn’t help but wonder why Mario was
here in my dream, sitting right next to me, while being dead.

The moment I started to wake up, I knew Mario was dead, of course, but still
here with me and would protect and take care of me during the transplant. This
feeling was so clear and real, I immediately wrote down my dream.”
The other dream is about a strange man who keeps returning in her dreams. He hides his face and runs away in the pouring rain. His tan raincoat flaps in the wind behind him, which turns out to be a clue as to his identity as the dreamer had never seen this person before.

Dream: The Face of Death?
It was a dark night on an empty street in the city. It had rained, the streets were
still wet, and the light of the streetlights reflected on the puddles. I stood on
the street alone, not sure what I was supposed to do or why I was there, when I spotted a telephone booth. In it was a man standing in a long coat and a hat,
beige fabric reminiscent of 1960s attire. Every time I spotted him, he half-turned,
opened the door of the telephone booth, and started to walk down the street.
Every time I saw him taking off, I knew as long as I could see him, as long as I
didn’t lose him, as long as he didn’t turn around and show me his face, I was safe.

After I was able to talk, I told my mom about this dream, and she knew immediately
who the man was. It was my uncle, her brother. He always wore long coats
and hats in beige. I had never met my uncle, because he died from Hodgkin’s
lymphoma, at the age of 37, 10 days before my birth.

When she relayed the dream to her mother the description of the man and his raincoat led to the realization that the man was the dreamer’s uncle who had died before her birth.

At the time of the dream, the dreamer was on death’s door after having had a three organ transplant. It turns out the Uncle was just checking up on her and trying to reach-out or speak to her using the phone in an old phone booth, a hint that the Uncle was much older and unaware of cell phones.

This is a classic example of a dead relative trying to communicate with the living in a dream.
Are the dead relatives in our dreams real, aspects of ourselves, or just wishful dreaming to see a loved-one one more time?

Often the people we see in our dreams are aspects of ourselves. If this were my dream and I were not terminally ill, I would ask myself what aspects of my uncle I like to integrate into myself and my life. Was he joyful, or perhaps a strong emotional and intellectual fighter?
Although I always encourage people to look for the answers to dreams using their own dream language, sometimes a dream dictionary can be useful, especially when trying to interpret something that may contain a symbol that may be a play on words, like “Cry Uncle.”

Uncles hold an exceptional spot in the family dynamics. They are often Godfathers to children and the person most entrusted with the lives of their brother’s children.
According to a Jungian dream dictionary: to see your uncle in your dream represents some aspect of your family heritage and trait. It also symbolizes new ideas and emerging awareness. Consider the idiom “cry uncle” to mean surrender or admit defeat.

This begs the question, “Is someone asking you to cry Uncle? Who and why?”
In your dream, your Uncle is telling you to come to him.

Maybe your unconscious feels that you should surrender to something that’s going on right now?

Our dreams concerning passed over loved ones can also be what is known as a duality, two things happening at once that contain different meaning.
A dream-duality can speak to two things happening at once, a conflict, or an opposition. It may contain aspects of ourselves in life and the actual dead relative who has come to help us and give us guidance.

Perhaps the conflict is life and death with the dead visiting the living in a dream in order to secure life from a place of death.

What is your life like emotionally right now? Are you stressed? Is this a time of challenge?
When we are in a place of emotional or physical turmoil our dead relatives are often given permission to return to us in our dreams during our darkest hour to help change the darkness into a defining moment. With them they bring celestial light into a dark place; another duality.

The Dreams of A Dress the Color of Sky

The Dreams of A Dress the Color of Sky

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” ~ George Santayana, philosopher

Who among us is not governed, to some degree, by the dark secrets of our past? Emotionally based dreams can manifest as daytime life-storms that refuse to remain contained. They have a way of building and blowing our existence to pieces like a clean dress the color of sky ripped from a clothesline and tossed into the mud.

Just when we think bad memories are forgotten, healed by time, and that all is well in our lives, something triggers a thought that manifests in a dream, which leads to an emotional door in our past hidden deep within the bowels of our psyche. The door, although tightly shut and locked, blows open by the sheer force of pent-up past emotions. A real-life nightmare once contained in silent darkness is unleashed into the light of day. Left unchecked it will consume all that is good beneath the clear blue sky.

Here is food for thought: Unchecked memories can grow strong on unhealed emotions.

Memories can begin to run wild through the paths of our lives like a pack of rats bringing life-threatening disease (dis-ease) with them. Research published in Science Daily shows that happy or sad, our emotions and physical health are inextricably linked. Dr. Rollin McCraty of the Institute of HeartMath in the US is studying the link between, emotions, physical health and how they trigger the peptide hormone oxytocin.

Depression, pessimism, and apathy affect our health in several ways.

“Low mood is linked to low levels of serotonin and dopamine, the feel-good neurotransmitters in the brain,’ says London GP Dr. Jane Flemming. “Serotonin plays a role in regulating pain perception and could be the reason why 45 percent of patients with depression also suffer aches and pains.” So, what is a person to do?

How can we cope with a past hell-bent on destroying our future?

Jennifer Irwin is on tour with her book, “A Dress the Color of Sky” which chronicles the up-hill battle of bad past memories. But, you can meet her here, and now, with this VIDEO Interview on the Kat Kanavos Show.

A Dress the Color of Sky

The story-line of A Dress, the Color of Sky, takes you through the difficult life of a woman named Prudence who is entering rehabilitation for sex addiction, and self-loathing, in order to deal with her disturbing past secrets and to save her faltering marriage.

Prudence has lost faith in herself and life. She feels she is blowing in the wind and cannot predict what her future holds.

How important is it to us to feel in control of our future? Research published in an article written by Dr. Art Markman in Psychology Today raises an interesting question.

How do you envision your future?

This question was explored in a paper in the August 2011 issue of Memory and Cognition by Kathleen Arnold, Kathleen McDermott, and Karl Szpunar. The research points out that your ability to envision the future is strongly influenced by your memory for the past. That is, you tend to use memories of past experiences to predict what your life will be like in the near and far future.

It was concluded that it is easier to use your memories when the future you are predicting is close in time, raising the question, do memories from the far past govern your actions without your knowledge.

We are creatures of habit. Therefore, you have already experienced many specific locations and events that are the ones you will encounter again next week. If you are working you will rise in the morning, get dressed and find your way to your workplace. This is experience is such a habit you will hardly remember getting there. As a result, you can do a good job of imagining through simulation what your life will look like next week.

According to the research cited above, it is harder to guess the effect past memories will have for understanding your life in the distant future. Elapsed time makes it more difficult to make specific future predictions.

Consequently, as an adult, if you have suppressed bad memories of an abusive relationship it is more difficult to predict how you will react to a similar relationship now.

There is an important reason to remember and deal with your past before it controls your future. The philosopher George Santayana wisely pointed out that if we don’t take time to reflect on our past behavior, we may unwittingly repeat it in the future. This is not only true for our behavior but true for other people’s actions toward us.

Forgive and forget may not be the best advice. Forgive and remember, so the transgression does not happen again may be a better choice for a healthy future.

Forewarned by memories is forearmed for the future.

Life is a series of lessons. If we do not think about how badly we were treated, come to terms with it, and use that knowledge to make choices about what to do to protect ourselves in the near future, we’re less vulnerable to being treated that way again.

Stumbling beneath the weight of her horrific past, Prudence has taken the first big step toward correcting her course for the future by remembering and healing her past with the help of therapy.

InDreams cover 3 our darkest hours, we often pray for help and guidance but forget, or don’t know how to watch for the answers in our waking world. According to the New York Times, at least 10 studies on the effects of prayers and healing have been carried out in the last 6 years, and this question continues among researchers.

What if… the life-saving answers come to us in dreams, as studies by Duke University Radiologist Dr. Larry Burk have shown? What if… we are guided to seek help in the form of therapy with a therapist chosen by God? What if… you are the answer to that therapist’s dreams which were also heard by the Lord?

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

A producer met Jennifer Irwin in LA. After reading the manuscript, the producer purchased the film rights. Production of the film A Dress, the Color of Sky, is scheduled to begin in early 2018 with some well-known names attached.

Watch as Jennifer introduces you to Prudence who is struggling to emerge from the dark places of her past and step into the light of a new day.

Prudence’s struggle is one many of us live with, and often die from if left unchecked.
